Coppell’s cross country program competed across elite, junior varsity and open divisions at the Byron Nelson Invitational, highlighted by senior Diego Morales’ top-30 finish in the Elite Boys 5,000-meter race.

Morales placed 29th in a field of 144 runners, finishing in 16 minutes, 44.20 seconds.

Coppell’s JV boys placed seventh among 15 scoring teams with 219 points. Freshman Alexander Marks led the Cowboys in 12th place at 19:20.60, followed by senior Noah Law in 19th at 19:33.20. Freshman Arnav Venkata finished 51st in 20:19.80, sophomore Calvin Wolf was 65th in 20:38.20 and freshman Jesiah Resnowski completed the scoring five in 97th at 21:11.40.

The Cowboys also took seventh in the Open Boys race, scoring 216 points. Senior Sandre Houdier paced the group with a 31st-place finish in 18:32.30. Coppell’s top five were separated by only 36 seconds, with Vihaan Sapkota, Austin Shelby, Baron Schott and Vihaan Chodisetti following closely behind.

On the girls’ side, Coppell placed 10th in the Open Girls team standings. Junior Vanini Agarwal led the Cowboys with a 10th-place finish in 21:17.80. Avery Fishman placed 54th in 23:12.80, followed by Pragna Vykuntam, Lauren Tang and Sutton Rasmussen.

Coppell’s JV girls finished 13th. Freshman Amy Achim was the team’s top finisher, placing 61st in 24:54.90.
